About the Author
William Bergen, S.J. is a native of New York City and has been a Jesuit priest for the past sixty years. He has spent most of that time in parish ministry—first at Saint Ignatius Parish in Baltimore and then for the past thirty-five years at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in New York City. Fr. Bergen has been on the staff of Mount Manresa Retreat House in Staten Island prior to its closing and an Adjunct Professor of Theology at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ. Since his retirement at the end of 2024, he has continued to pursue his interest in Sacred Scripture and Christian spirituality.
